About the Dream Center
The Dream Center serves as the outreach ministry center of Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, Alabama. The mission of the Dream Center is to provide social services and outreach programs designed to meet both physical and spiritual needs.
In 2008, Church of the Highlands purchased and renovated two buildings in the Woodlawn Community. The Woodlawn Fire Station, a national landmark, serves as the strategic outpost from which we engage Woodlawn and urban Birmingham. As the “nerve center” of our outreach department, we are able to partner with surrounding neighborhood entities like Woodlawn High School, Gibson Elementary School, Cornerstone Christian School, Willow Wood Recreation Center and the YWCA’s 72-apartment unit homeless facility. We’ve also played a pivotal role in founding Main Street Birmingham’s land development initiative.
In addition to the fire station building, the Dream Center campus is home to a 16,600 square foot medical clinic. We have partnered with Christ Health Center in developing a state-of-the-art primary care, dental, counseling and pharmacy operation with the potential to serve more than 30,000 patients annually.
